On 2 September, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, chaired a UAE Cabinet meeting at Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi. During the session, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed discussed various initiatives aimed at advancing the UAE’s progress and approved the agenda for the UAE Government Annual Meetings, set to take place on 5 and 6 November 2024, in Abu Dhabi. These meetings will focus on the UAE's national agenda for 2025.
The cabinet meeting was also attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Chairman of the Presidential Court, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE, His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
The UAE Government Annual Meetings, scheduled for November in Abu Dhabi, will focus on three key areas, family, national identity, and artificial intelligence. All entities have been requested to present ideas, initiatives, and projects that contribute to sector development, support national priorities, and help establish a clear national agenda for 2025.
In addition, the UAE Cabinet also endorsed the UAE's international stance on artificial intelligence, focusing on transparency, ethical standards, and global cooperation. It reviewed the 2023 government financial statistics, showing total expenditures of Dhs 402.387 billion, and approved the UAE’s participation in the Nationally Determined Contributions Partnership to advance climate actions in line with the Paris Agreement.
The meeting also included a review of the Ministry of Education’s readiness plan for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. This plan covers updates, projects, and the preparedness of schools, staff, and services. Additionally, the cabinet discussed the new academic year campaign, 'Student into Leader', aimed at engaging society in empowering students and developing future leaders.
