If you're passionate about stargazing and interested in astronomy, you’re in for a treat! From tonight, Monday, 19 August, through Wednesday, 21 August, the skies over the UAE will showcase a spectacular celestial event, the first seasonal blue supermoon. This rare phenomenon will make the moon appear both larger and brighter as it reaches its closest point to Earth. In the UAE, the blue supermoon will become fully visible around 8pm each night.
This event will feature a the first seasonal blue supermoon. According to NASA, the term 'supermoon' was introduced by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979. It refers to either a new or full moon that happens when the moon is within 90% of its closest approach to Earth.
This will be the first of four consecutive supermoons this year, with the full moons in September and October being nearly as close to Earth as this one.
