flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has launched its inaugural flight to Basel, Switzerland, becoming the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights from Dubai to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The new route will operate four times a week from Dubai International Airport (DXB).
The first flight was celebrated with a traditional water cannon salute upon its arrival at Basel's EuroAirport. Senior airport officials warmly welcomed the delegation, which was led by Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai.
Speaking at the press conference, Jeyhun Efendi, Senior Vice President of commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, said, “At flydubai, we are committed to opening up underserved destinations and creating free flows of trade and tourism and we are pleased to add Basel to our network in Europe. EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves Switzerland, France and Germany, making it an important hub for travel, trade and tourism in the tri-border region that will benefit our customers from the UAE and beyond."
Flight Details
Flights between Dubai and Basel will be operated using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Business Class passengers can enjoy comfortable seating and an internationally-inspired menu, while Economy Class travellers benefit from space-optimising seat designs.
Service will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from Terminal 3 at DXB. Emirates Airlines will codeshare on this route, providing additional connection options through Dubai's international hub.
Return fares from DXB to BSL start at Dhs 13,000 for Business Class and Dhs 1,500 for Economy Class Lite. From BSL to DXB, return Business Class fares start at CHF 3,325, while Economy Class Lite fares begin at CHF 500.
Basel, located along the Rhine River, is celebrated as Switzerland’s cultural capital, featuring a blend of museums, historic and modern architecture, and access to the scenic Swiss countryside. Tickets can be booked via flydubai’s website.
