Hisham Alshelh purchased the winning ticket on 24 July while travelling to Istanbul, Turkey. The announcement was made on 7 August at the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw, held at Concourse B of Dubai International Airport.
Hisham Alshelh purchased a ticket for the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion, which provides participants with a one-in-5,000 chance to win US$1 million. Draws are held approximately every 2 to 3 weeks at the Dubai Duty Free shopping complex. Tickets cost Dhs 1,000 each.
Tickets for the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion can be purchased through Dubai Duty Free's website or at the Finest Surprise counters located in departures, arrivals, and public shops in Terminals 1, 2, and 3 at Dubai International and Al Maktoum International Airports.
For UAE residents, tickets are also available at The Irish Village Shop in Al Garhoud, Dubai Studio City and Jumeirah Creekside Hotel.
