The first Emirates Boeing 777, featuring a complete cabin refresh, has entered service ahead of schedule, with its inaugural flight to Geneva in Switzerland as EK 83 on 8 August. The extensive 37-day refurbishment has introduced a new look, including the addition of a Premium Economy cabin with 24 cream leather seats in a 2-4-2 configuration. These seats offer a 38-inch pitch, 19.5-inch width, 8-inch recline, and 6-way adjustable headrests for enhanced comfort.
Meanwhile, the revamped Business Class cabin, accommodating 38 seats in a 1-2-1 layout, boasts a warm, modern design with cream leather seats, champagne trim, lighter wood panelling, and advanced technology. Each ergonomic seat converts into a 78.6-inch flatbed, featuring a personal mini-bar, dining table, multiple charging outlets, and a 23-inch HD screen for the airline’s award-winning entertainment system. A small bar will also be available for mid-flight snacks and refreshments.
The Economy Class cabin, now with 256 seats, features a soft grey and blue colour scheme and ergonomically designed seats with full leather headrests and adjustable side panels. The ghaf tree motif is a prominent design element throughout.
As part of a $3 billion investment to enhance the passenger experience, Emirates will refurbish another 80 Boeing 777s. The updated aircraft will soon serve Tokyo Haneda in Japan and Brussels in Belgium, with additional destinations to be announced.
The refurbishment, carried out by a dedicated team of 175 engineers and technicians at Emirates Engineering in Dubai, adheres to the highest quality and safety standards.
To deliver the first Boeing 777 refurbished aircraft, the airline used a total of:
· 330 square metres of carpets.
· 340 laminate sheets.
· 8,000 square feet of leather for First, Business and Premium Economy Class seats.
· 800 metres of fabric for Economy Class seats.
· 300 litres of paint.
