In the first half of 2024, Dubai Municipality conducted 52,233 inspections across the environment, health, and food sectors. These inspections were aimed at ensuring compliance with standards for consumer products, food safety, health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Dubai Municipality’s health and safety teams, consisting of 95 supervisors, carried out 26,566 inspections through six campaigns. These campaigns focused on hotels, shisha cafes, hair salons, beauty centres, worker housing, and community markets. The inspections also covered public places, buildings, playgrounds, event venues, industrial enterprises, infrastructure projects, and temporary activities.
Additionally, the Municipality’s port inspections reviewed over 17,000 shipments of consumer products, totalling 145,000 tons, to ensure they met approved specifications and safety standards.
Dr Naseem Mohammad Rafee, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health, and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, emphasised the Municipality’s dedication to performing regular inspections and campaigns year-round. These efforts aim to build a strong food and health ecosystem, support sustainable food supply chains, and ensure food security in Dubai.
Dr Naseem Mohammad Rafee also noted that the Municipality seeks to uphold environmental sustainability and preserve natural resources, enhancing Dubai’s reputation as a vibrant, sustainable city with an outstanding quality of life.
Dubai Municipality Carried Out Food Safety And Environment Inspection
Dubai Municipality’s food safety inspection teams conducted approximately 18,374 inspections across various food establishments, including restaurants, hotels, cafes, commercial centres, hypermarkets, supermarkets, and 31 temporary events, generating a total of 2,733 food safety reports.
During the first half of 2024, the Emirate saw a total of 25,000 food establishments, with 1,373 new openings.
In terms of nature and environment, environmental teams carried out 4,331 inspections, including 3,378 at projects, industrial, and service facilities. The Municipality uses a smart inspection system for efficient environmental monitoring and is organising a virtual awareness campaign to ensure businesses comply with environmental regulations.
Additionally, 783 inspections were performed to monitor the marine environment, coastal regions, and sea samples, ensuring adherence to environmental laws. The Municipality also conducted 170 inspections as part of its natural reserve monitoring program.
Dubai Municipality In Public Health
Dubai Municipality’s teams conducted around 2,962 visits to enforce technical and health regulations. This included 2,625 visits to veterinary facilities and 337 to pest control companies. They issued 305 No Objection Certificates for veterinary activities and 1,963 veterinary health certifications for export shipments.
The Municipality also addressed 3,305 reports about stray animals and animal welfare issues. They inspected 160,402 slaughtered animals for safety and checked 584,276 livestock and 465,445 tons of animal feed at entry points.
Additionally, the Dubai Central Laboratory inspected 13,600 legal measuring instruments, such as tyre pressure gauges and electronic balances, with a compliance rate exceeding 99%.
