Abu Dhabi To Get GCC's Largest Student Accommodation Facility

Plenary Group

Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in partnership with Khalifa University of Science and Technology, has awarded KUnnected Living, a multinational consortium led by Plenary Group, BESIX Group (a major Belgian-French construction and property developer), and Mazrui International (a privately held diversified holding company that operates across numerous industries and asset classes), the contract to develop state-of-the-art student accommodation facilities in Abu Dhabi.

Under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, this project marks the largest student accommodation development in the Gulf Cooperation Council region. It includes a 23-year concession to design, build, finance, and maintain 3,260 student rooms and communal facilities across Khalifa University’s Main Campus and Sas Al Nakhl Campus.

Implemented through Abu Dhabi’s successful PPP Programme, overseen by ADIO, the project aims to enhance the private sector's role in delivering major public sector infrastructure. It underscores Khalifa University’s commitment to providing top-tier accommodation that fosters a vibrant campus community for local and international students.

The facilities will feature technology-enabled ensuite rooms for undergraduates, ensuite studios for post-graduate students, and extensive communal spaces, including study areas, fitness studios, a gym, and commercial and retail zones.

This initiative is integral to Khalifa University’s strategic growth plan, aiming to modernise and enrich its educational and living offerings. The university is recognised as a leader in research, enterprise, and innovation, maintaining its position as one of the top-ranked institutions in the UAE and globally according to the QS World University Rankings 2024.
