dnata Travel, the UAE’s longest-serving travel provider, has reported a 35% increase in bookings for international travel during July and August 2024 compared to the same period last year.
During these months, dnata Travel highlights Thailand, Maldives, Mauritius, Turkey, and the UK as the most popular destinations for international travel from the UAE.
Mauritius has notably risen to become one of the top three most-booked holiday spots, marking a significant trend shift this summer. The island nation, along with Germany and Malaysia, is among the fastest-growing travel destinations for dnata’s customers in the summer of 2024.
dnata Travel also notes a significant preference for international trips during this peak summer travel season, comprising 90% of total bookings this year, compared to just 10% for UAE staycations.
In contrast, during the Eid al-Adha break in 2024, dnata Travel experts observed a split of 65% international travel and 35% staycations, highlighting a notable surge in demand for outbound travel.
Meerah Ketait, Head of Retail and Leisure UAE at dnata Travel commented, "International travel is in high demand this summer, with destinations including Mauritius, Malaysia, and Germany witnessing some of the strongest growth we’ve seen this year. Mauritius and Malaysia offer the chance to stay on world-class beaches and in exceptional resorts at affordable prices. Kuala Lumpur is also a popular destination in Asia for a city break for its impressive skyline, and opportunities for shopping and dining. Meanwhile, Germany’s vibrant cities are popular this month, as travellers seek to soak up the action of the UEFA European Football Championship, taking place across the country."
