In 2023, Abu Dhabi's airports welcomed over 22.4 million travellers. Data from Abu Dhabi Airports, as disclosed in the Key Transport Statistics 2023 report by the Statistics Centre, Abu Dhabi (SCAD) , shows that annual arrivals at the emirate's airports exceeded 11.1 million, while departures totalled 11.3 million during the same period.
According to the report, the Indian subcontinent topped the list for arrivals through Abu Dhabi's airports by country of origin in 2023, with approximately 3.2 million travellers. Following closely were Western Europe with 1.9 million, Asia with 1.7 million, GCC countries with about 1.6 million, and East Asia with 822,777 travellers.
Similarly, the Indian subcontinent also led in departures from the emirate's airports last year, with around 3.5 million travellers. South America followed with 1.9 million departures, Asia with 1.7 million, and GCC countries with 1.6 million departures.
In 2023, Al Ain International Airport recorded 51,067 arrivals and 43,945 departures, with 1,763 passengers transiting through the airport and 1,011 through the Zayed International Airport.
Regarding aircraft traffic through the emirate's airports in 2023, the report indicated a 27.8% growth compared to 2022. Zayed International Airport recorded 141,225 flights in 2023, up from 110,536 flights in 2022. Meanwhile, Al Ain International Airport saw 8,409 flights in 2023, an increase from 7,598 flights in 2022.
