Dubai Police, through the General Department of Traffic, has announced enhanced traffic awareness efforts for the summer months in line with the 'Summer Without Accidents' campaign, organised by the Ministry of Interior and running until 1 September.
His Excellency Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs at Dubai Police, emphasised that the 'Summer Without Accidents' initiative reflects the Ministry of Interior's commitment to enhancing road safety. It is integral to Dubai Police's strategy aimed at ensuring a secure city and safer roads through awareness campaigns and initiatives. These efforts are designed to raise traffic safety standards for all road users and encourage adherence to safety guidelines and instructions while driving.
His Excellency Major General Abdulla Ali Al Ghaithi, highlighting the summer statistics for traffic-related incidents in Dubai over the last three years, expressed his concern.
- In 2023, there were 30 fatalities, 45 severe injuries, 308 moderate injuries, and 283 minor injuries.
- In 2022, there were 36 fatalities, 35 severe injuries, 314 moderate injuries, and 315 minor injuries.
- In 2021, there were 26 fatalities, 41 severe injuries, 178 moderate injuries, and 217 minor injuries.
Authorities Also Highlighted Safety Tips For Motorists
Brigadier Ahmad Alsam Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department in Ras Al Khaimah Police, emphasised key safety tips for motorists:
- Adhere to traffic laws, including speed limits.
- Avoid distractions while driving and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
- Regularly check and replace tyres to prevent accidents, especially in high temperatures.
- Use high-quality tyres that meet specifications to avoid tyre bursts.
- Ensure vehicles have essential safety tools like fire extinguishers.
- Avoid leaving flammable items like lighters, perfumes, and batteries in the vehicle.
- Stay informed about tyre maintenance and how to react in case of a tyre burst to reduce risks and ensure road safety.
