RTA Urges Residents For Regular Vehicle Inspection as Summer Approaches

As summer approaches, it's essential to stay hydrated and take care of your health. And with that, it's also important to ensure your vehicles are serviced and ready for the heat. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has urged motorists to maintain and regularly inspect their vehicles, especially during the summers when road travel is expected to increase.

The RTA highlighted the importance of proper vehicle maintenance to minimise the risk of sudden mechanical failures that could lead to traffic accidents. They advised drivers to check the condition of their tyres, brakes, oils, cooling fluids, air conditioning systems, batteries, lights, and windshield wipers, as well as inspect for any oil or water leaks.

The RTA is committed to educating the public and raising awareness among vehicle owners at the start of the summer season. These awareness campaigns, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Interior as part of the 'Safe Summer' initiative, stress the importance of regular vehicle maintenance.

While annual vehicle inspections are required for ownership renewal, the RTA emphasises that drivers are responsible for continuously inspecting their vehicles throughout the year. Before embarking on road trips or covering long distances, drivers must check their cars for key traffic safety components.

Bader Al Siri, Executive Director of Traffic at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, emphasised the importance of regular vehicle inspection and maintenance for road safety and accident prevention. "Dubai's traffic safety strategy is based on four pillars: traffic enforcement, road and vehicle engineering, traffic awareness, and the management of vehicle movements across Dubai roads," he said.

Bader Al Siri highlighted that the RTA has developed a plan to broadcast awareness messages to drivers about the importance of regular vehicle maintenance. These messages emphasise that vehicle safety protects not only drivers and passengers but also all road users.
