On 16 April, the UAE witnessed one of the highest rainfall in 75 years, leaving many individuals stranded and causing significant damage to homes, vehicles, and personal belongings. As the UAE moves forward with recovery efforts, Dubai Police made an announcement on 24 April regarding traffic fines incurred by motorists on 16 April. Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, declared that all traffic fines recorded on Tuesday, 16 April, during the extreme weather conditions, will be waived.
The decision to waive the traffic violations reflects Dubai Police's commitment to the community and to ensuring their safety, especially during exceptional circumstances.
Not only Dubai Police, but Sharjah Police also recently announced that all fines for traffic violations incurred by motorists during the recent heavy rainfall will be waived in Sharjah.
Brigadier Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, announced that individuals affected by weather-related damage in Sharjah can now obtain vehicle destruction certificates at no cost. These certificates can be acquired through the official channels of Sharjah Police, including the 'Sharjah Police Smart App' and their website. Al Shamsi emphasised the availability of these certificates to support relief efforts and alleviate burdens during these exceptional circumstances.
