His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has commended Dubai's resilience in overcoming recent challenges and emphasised that the emirate, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will continue to strengthen its standing as a global role model in every respect despite recent extreme weather events in April.
Chairing a meeting of The Executive Council of Dubai on 23 April, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan commended the efforts of government and emergency response teams, including the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management in Dubai, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in facing up to the testing situation brought on by the severe weather conditions.
Additionally, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan also commended businesses, the broader community, and volunteers for their collaboration and unity. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan said, "Dubai has once again demonstrated the strength and cohesiveness of its society; one that is based on unity, solidarity and readiness to face and overcome challenges. Dubai is blessed with its people and, on behalf of the leadership, we say: thank you."
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Is Confident That Dubai Can Address Extreme Weather Conditions
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan expressed his faith in Dubai's capacity to handle severe weather conditions, citing the dedication of teams who diligently worked before, during, and after the heavy rainfall to restore normalcy. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan recognised the preparedness, unity, and collaboration among Dubai's community, government, and businesses, which helped mitigate the impact of the extreme weather. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan noted that this experience presents an opportunity to strengthen the emirate's emergency response capabilities for the future.
Lastly, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan also instructed government bodies to formulate a proactive plan to address extreme weather occurrences comprehensively. The Council also assessed Dubai's measures to manage the adverse weather conditions affecting the area. Over 25,000 personnel and volunteers engaged in the emergency response, supported by approximately 5,000 security patrols, emergency vehicles, tankers, buses, and water pump operators.
