Remote Learning To Be Offered

On Tuesday 16 April, the UAE experienced its worst rain fall and storms since records were made 75 years ago. As a result schools across the emirates reverted to distance learning for the remainder of the week.

As the clear up process continues and normalcy to roads and communities is restored, some people may still find it difficult to travel distances, and as result Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has asked educational institutions to remain flexible for the coming days.

In a post on its social media platforms, KHDA said "As our education community prepares to resume on-site learning, we ask all Dubai private schools, universities and nurseries to remain flexible and accommodating to the needs of students, teachers and staff, and continue offering distance learning for those facing ongoing logistical challenges after the severe weather."

Some schools across Dubai have already started communicating with parents of their individual positions. Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer, GEMS Education said in a statement, "We have successfully completed our cleanup and repair efforts in many of our schools to restore our classrooms, playgrounds, and learning spaces for the safe return of students and teachers, providing road access is also clear. Work continues around the clock to prepare our remaining schools for reopening and each has informed its parent community of its situation, to give them as much time as possible to prepare for either continued remote learning or return to the classroom, as the case may be."
