The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a red alert due to the fog formation, cautioning residents about reduced visibility. The NCM advisory says, "A chance of fog formation with a deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times." This comes in after NCM's rainfall prediction for the weekend and next week in UAE.
In Dubai, fog covered several locations, such as Al Jaddaf, Al Aweer, Jebel Ali, and more. And fog patches were observed on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road heading towards Dubai and several other areas.
On X, formerly known as Twitter, Abu Dhabi Police advised motorists to be cautious and lowered speed limits on various roads, including Sheikh Hazzaa Bin Sultan Road, Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road and Abu Dhabi-Dubai Road, to improve safety.
Today morning, 24 February, the lowest temperature was recorded in Mezaira, Al Dhafra Region, at 10.9°C at 7am, coinciding with widespread dense fog across the country.
The NCM's forecast for today indicates a mix of fair to partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with increasing cloudiness expected by night, particularly in coastal and northern regions. Light to moderate winds are anticipated, with a possibility of light rainfall on Sunday morning.
Temperature-wise, highs will be up to 30ºC. Specifically, Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to hit 29ºC and 28ºC respectively. Night-time temperatures may drop to 20ºC in Abu Dhabi, 19ºC in Dubai, and as low as 7ºC in mountainous areas. Humidity levels will range from 35% to 75% in Abu Dhabi and 55% to 90% in Dubai.
Sea conditions are forecasted to be relatively calm in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
