Dubai Sports Council, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has announced the launch of 'Dubai Jet Suit Race'. The first edition of this one-of-a-kind event will be held on 28 February, during the Dubai Boat Show, giving visitors an opportunity to watch this unique aerial competition.
In a groundbreaking sports event, competitors will take to the skies without airplanes, using jet-engine-equipped suits to navigate a set course. This unique competition, the first of its kind globally, is organised in collaboration with Gravity Industries, a company leading the way in jet suits and jet suit racing.
Eight contestants from various countries, including the UAE's Ahmed Al Shehhi, will compete for top honours. Emirati racer Ahmed Al Shehhi is currently undergoing specialised and rigorous training in Britain to qualify for the world's first-ever race of this kind.
The event not only promises an exciting spectacle but also highlights Dubai's reputation as a host for significant global events.

The launch of the jet suit racing competition was revealed in a ceremony held at Burj Park, situated next to the iconic Burj Khalifa.
The thrilling jet suit racing event will take place in the area between Dubai Harbour and Skydive Dubai, carefully chosen for its suitable water expanse and depth. Competitors will don specially designed suits that prioritise health and safety, including features for protection from drowning and additional buoyancy.
