Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has revealed a significant project to enhance Umm Suqeim Street. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The aim is to upgrade the road infrastructure to keep pace with Dubai's ongoing development, cater to urban and population requirements, and ensure smooth traffic flow. The project is being closely monitored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
Spanning from the Al Khail Road intersection to the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road intersection, the Dhs 332 million project aims to bolster connectivity, improving the east-west and north-south traffic flow.
Initial Phase Was Launched In 2013
The initial phase, completed in 2013, widened the street from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Khail Road, introducing two bridges, each featuring three lanes and three pedestrian bridges. A key addition was a bridge at the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street, Dubai Hills, and Al Barsha entrances. The ongoing project will expands over 4.6km from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. It encompasses an 800-metre tunnel at the intersection with Al Barsha South Street, near Kings School Al Barsha, enhancing traffic efficiency.
The Project Aims To Reduce Travel Time From 9.7 to 3.8 Minutes
This strategic initiative targets enhanced connectivity across major corridors: Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Emirates Road. Launched to handle 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, it aims to reduce travel time between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Al Khail Road from 9.7 to 3.8 minutes, benefiting approximately two million residents in areas like Al Barsha South and Dubai Hills.
The project aligns with Dubai's vision, ensuring the road network evolves in tandem with urban growth, offering residents enhanced connectivity and a smoother traffic experience.
