The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has introduced a unified traffic campaign for 2024, focusing on bicycle safety. Launched through the Federal Traffic Council, the campaign, titled 'Safe Riding for Bicycle Users,' aims to enhance awareness among cyclists. Emphasising the importance of following traffic instructions and safety guidelines, the initiative aims to ensure the well-being of individuals and the protection of lives and property.

The campaign aligns with the Ministry's efforts to promote awareness and instil a responsible traffic culture among motorbike, electric, and bicycle riders. The key objective is to reduce improper behaviour, protect the rights of road users, and promote the highest safety standards on the roads.

The campaign is set to run throughout the first quarter of 2024 and is a collaborative effort involving strategic partners, ministries, federal and local agencies, as well as various entities dedicated to traffic safety. The objective is to reach a broad segment of society by disseminating awareness messages in Arabic, English, and Urdu across various social media platforms.

The campaign aims to communicate a clear message to all bicycle users, emphasising the need to follow traffic laws at every stage of riding. Users are encouraged to prioritise security and safety by using designated roads, respecting traffic laws, and wearing helmets, appropriate clothing, and safety tools.

Key points of the campaign stress the importance of checking tyre and brake safety, ensuring the bicycle is suitable for riding before starting, following the correct path on internal and public roads or bicycle paths, and avoiding riding in a way that endangers the lives and safety of others.
