Over 2 Million Passengers Used Public Transport Over New Year In Dubai

Dubai marked the arrival of 2024 with a spectacular celebration featuring fireworks, dinners, galas, concerts, and a host of events. To ensure seamless city operations during this festive period, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) took proactive measures, including the addition of 250 buses and extending the operating hours of the Dubai Metro and Tram. And now, post the New Year festivities, the RTA has announced that 2,288,631 passengers used various public transport options on New Year's Eve 2024.

According to the report, on New Year's Eve 2024 in Dubai:

  • The Red and Green Lines of the Dubai Metro collectively carried 974,416 passengers.
  • The Tram accommodated 56,208 riders.
  • Public buses transported 401,510 passengers.
  • Marine transport modes ferried 97,261 individuals.
  • E-hail vehicles provided services to 167,051 passengers.
  • Shared transport vehicles were utilised by 1,316 people.
  • Taxis were the choice of transportation for 590,869 passengers.

The RTA assured that passengers had a safe and seamless journey to and from New Year's Eve celebration venues, thanks to a well-coordinated integrated plan with relevant entities in Dubai.
