Sharjah Municipality and the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) of the Department of Municipalities and Transport in Abu Dhabi have declared complimentary public parking on New Year's Day, 1 January 2024. The free parking will be in effect only for that day and will resume regular operation on 2 January 2024.
It's important to note that the exemption from parking fees does not cover seven-day paid public parking zones in Sharjah, which will maintain regular operations and charges on Sundays.
In Abu Dhabi, parking will be free at the Mussafah M-18 truck parking lot during the holiday. The ITC emphasises the importance of drivers avoiding restricted areas to ensure smooth traffic flow. Additionally, drivers are encouraged to park responsibly in designated areas and refrain from using residential parking spaces from 9pm to 8am.
The ITC has also announced the closure of Customers' Happiness Centres across the emirate on January 1, with operations resuming on January 2.
