Abu Dhabi residents can now enjoy hassle-free access to free Wi-Fi throughout the emirate, thanks to the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT). The DMT has introduced free public Wi-Fi coverage across various locations, including buses, beaches, and public parks. This initiative is part of Abu Dhabi's commitment to smart city development and the enhancement of its digital infrastructure.
Abu Dhabi Media Office took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to announce that the free service, named Hala Wi-Fi, will be accessible across the entire emirate, including on public buses and in parks.
The DMT, in collaboration with UAE service providers, is behind this initiative. It offers the public Wi-Fi coverage in diverse locations, including 19 public parks in Abu Dhabi, 11 in Al Ain, and 14 in the Al Dhafra Region. Soon, this service will also be accessible at Abu Dhabi Corniche beach and Al Bateen beach.
On this, His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of DMT, said, "We are proud to offer this service, ensuring connectivity for everyone across all locations. Abu Dhabi's global ranking at 13 out of 141 cities in the IMD Smart City Index 2023 reaffirms our commitment to openness, innovation, inclusivity and sustainability, validating our dedication to smart city development."
