Careem, the leading multi-service platform in the region, has exciting news for Dubai as it introduces the city's inaugural fleet of electric delivery motorbikes. These eco-friendly bikes will be supported by a network of electric charging stations situated at over 190 Careem Bike stations across Dubai. Anticipated to hit Dubai's roads by 2024, this initiative represents a significant step towards sustainable and efficient urban mobility.
Careem is making these electric delivery motorbikes accessible to its delivery Captains in Dubai through a subscription model, offering potential savings of up to 50% compared to traditional petrol-powered alternatives.
The bikes feature 4,000-watt lithium battery packs, which can be conveniently charged at over 190 Careem stations scattered across Dubai. Notably, each motorbike can carry two batteries, each with a 2,000-watt capacity.
Weighing in at 130 kg, equipped with wider wheels, and boasting a top speed of 80 km/hr, these electric motorbikes prioritise safety, reduced noise pollution, and ease of use compared to conventional petrol motorcycles.
Initially utilised by Careem's Quik Grocery delivery Captains, the electric bikes are poised for a broader rollout, serving other Careem delivery services such as Careem Food and Careem Box.
This eco-conscious move is not only a positive step for the environment, with an expected daily reduction of up to 24 tonnes of C02 emissions, but also a financially savvy choice for Careem captains.
The launch aligns with the UAE's hosting of the Cop28 climate change conference, emphasising the importance of sustainable practices in the face of global challenges. Stay tuned for more details about this innovative launch from Careem.
