Since the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza conflict, the UAE has been actively providing crucial assistance to Palestinians. In a recent development, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, issued directives to the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence, initiating a humanitarian operation in the Gaza Strip. And on Sunday, 26 November 10 Emirates Red Crescent trucks today crossed into Gaza carrying food aid. The aid contained 16,520 food parcels weighing 247.8 tonnes.
As part of Gallant Knight 3, the UAE had previously also announced the establishment of a field hospital in the Gaza Strip. This hospital, equipped with 150 beds, will feature units for general surgery, orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, psychiatry, family medicine, and internal medicine, catering to both adults and children.
In a significant commitment, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed declared that the UAE would extend medical treatment to 1,000 Palestinian cancer patients in its hospitals. This announcement closely followed the arrival of the first batch of 1,000 injured children in Abu Dhabi on a medical flight. These children, many requiring specialised care for lost limbs and burns, will be accompanied by family members or guardians.
To further demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people, donation drives and aid collection campaigns have been organised across the Emirates. The UAE's multifaceted approach underscores its ongoing commitment to providing essential support and medical care to those affected by the conflict.
