Dubai isn't just thriving in tourism; it's also making remarkable strides in the education sector. Private schools in Dubai have experienced the highest-ever growth in enrolment since the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) was established in 2007.
As reported by the Emirates News Agency, WAM, the 2023 to 24 academic year marks a remarkable achievement. Enrolment growth has entered double digits for the first time, with a 12% increase, adding more than 39,000 students compared to the previous year. This brings the total number of students in Dubai's private schools to over 365,000.
The growth is attributed to the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to double Dubai's economy size over the next decade and establish Dubai as one of the world's leading global cities. Dr Abdulla Al Karam, the Director-General of KHDA, commented on this achievement and said, "Schools in Dubai prioritise quality, well-being and inclusion while offering diversity in their curricula, locations and demographics. This combination offers teachers unforgettable career experiences and promises parents that their children will receive an education unlike any other in the world.
Dubai boasts 220 private schools, providing 17 different curricula to students from over 180 nationalities. Impressively, over 75% of all students in Dubai attend schools rated as good or better by the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, with 76% of Emirati students included in this category.
