59 Companies Found Violating Midday Work Ban

WAM

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has found 130 workers from 59 companies in the UAE, violating the midday break work ban.

MoHRE praised the "deep commitment of most establishments" for following the working hours of the midday break ban, during the 67,000 inspections and 28,000 guidance visits held.

The midday work ban began on 15 June and will run till 15 September, which is in place between 12.30pm and 3pm, to prevent workers from working under direct sunlight, that can lead to heat exhaustion. During these hours, employers are required to provide workers with umbrellas and cooling equipment like fans and cold drinking water.

Mohsen Al Nassi, Assistant Undersecretary for Inspection Affairs at the Ministry said, "The Midday Break is part of a series of solid measures taken by MoHRE to protect workers' rights and provide all conditions and components of occupational safety and health. These inspections and awareness-raising rounds are part of our commitment to ensuring that establishments adhere to decisions and regulations to provide the best humanitarian and social standards that enhance the UAE labour market's competitiveness and flexibility."

MoHRE also advised the public to report any violations of the ban by calling 600-590000 or through the MoHRE website and app.
