During the first half of 2023, Dubai Police has seized 4,172 cars and motorcycles for violating traffic laws. The cars were confiscated for causing noise disturbance to residents and citizens, due to the power booster modifications made to increase the engine's speed.
Dubai Police has also confiscated 8,786 electric scooters and bicycles between January and June 2023, under the resolution to regulate the use of electric scooters and bicycles. Permits are required to operate them, as well as children aged 16 years and below are not allowed to ride e-scooters.
The announcement was made during the General Department of Traffic performance review meeting for the second quarter of 2023, where His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police appreciated the department for the role played in traffic management and enhancing public safety in Dubai.
