Licenses For E-Scooters And Bikes Now Required

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has announced a series of safety regulations and requirements for the use of e-scooters and bicycles in Dubai, .

Licenses for e-scooters and bikes will be issued by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

Group cycling, for four or more, will require approval from the RTA, with Dubai Police, UAE Cycling Federation, Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services notified.

Speed limits should not exceed 60km/h and should not be used on jogging and walking tracks.

Children aged 16 and below are not allowed to ride electric bikes and scooters and cyclists aged below 12 years need to be accompanied by an adult.

Fines will be handed out to individuals that do not follow the rules, with not paying the fine leading to bikes being confiscated.

Fines can be disputed within 30 days with a written grievance from the Director General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA.
