The Ministry of Economy in the UAE has announced a temporary suspension on the export and re-export of rice.
The suspension on various types of rice including brown rice, peeled rice, fully or partially milled rice and broken rice, that do not originate from India, has already taken effect and will last for four months.
The decision is to ensure there is a sufficient supply of rice at local markets in the country.
Companies that would like to export or re-export rice will have to receive permission from the Ministry of Economy, and the application must have all the required documents. The permission will be valid for 30 days.
To apply, an email can be sent to antidumping@economy.ae or to the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy in DIFC.
