Dubai Municipality has announced that the first construction licence for a private villa using 3D printing technology has been issued.
The villa will be located in Al Awir 1 and will be printed in one session.
Expected to be completed by October this year, the four-metre-high villa will be built from locally sourced concrete.
The 3D-printed villa is in line with Dubai's aspirations to increase 3D-printed buildings to 25% by 2030, and has economic and environmental benefits including lower costs, shorter construction time, using sustainable materials and ease in building complex structures.
Eng. Mariam Al Muhairi, Acting CEO of the Buildings Regulation and Permits Agency at Dubai Municipality said, "Dubai Municipality has issued the emirate's first construction licence for a private residence built with 3D printing technology. This project aims to encourage contractors, engineers, investors, and real estate developers to adopt and use technology in their building operations."
