The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced the Delivery Riders Hub pilot project will be launched in September in Abu Dhabi.
The project will be implemented on E25 Street in Khalifa City, due to the multiple restaurants and cafes along the road, and will allot dedicated waiting areas that have shade, comfortable seating with air conditioning and drinking water services.
The aim of the project is to enhance the working conditions of motorcycle drivers.
To cater to the needs of motorcycle drivers, interviews were held to understand the issues and challenges faced during work.
Each hub will be able to accommodate 10 to 15 motorcycle drivers.
Parking will also be provided to avoid stopping on pedestrian paths and prevent drivers from getting parking fines.
