Amazing Guinness World Records Set By Burj Khalifa

Dubai is no stranger to breaking world records and over the years has broken multiple Guinness World Records from the world's biggest frame, and highest infinity pool to the largest dancing fountain.

With over 350 world records achieved, Dubai is the perfect spot for residents and tourists alike to explore all the marvellous milestones.

Burj Khalifa has also had its fair share of Guinness World Records met since opening on 4 January 2010.

The building has a height of 828 metres with 163 floors. Burj Khalifa is also home to 57 elevators and eight escalators.

Visitors can enjoy getting a glimpse of the amazing Dubai skyline from the observation deck, staying at the hotel or dining at some of the luxurious restaurants.

Here is a look at some of the iconic Guinness World Records that Burj Khalifa has achieved.

Tallest Building In The World

Dubai is known for its stunning skyline and marvellous architecture. However, one of the most eye-catching buildings is Burj Khalifa. The building measures at a height of 828 metres and took over seven years to build. On completion, Burj Khalifa was named the tallest building in the world, replacing Taipei 101, which held the title from 2004 to 2010 and measures a height of 508 metres.

Most Floors In A Building

Over its height of 828 metres, Burj Khalifa also holds the record for the most floors seen in a building. The building has 163 floors and is home to residential, office space and leisure facilities. 'Armani Hotel' makes up of the first eight levels, followed by one, two, three and four-bedroom residential suites from Level 19 to 108. Fine dining restaurant 'At.Mosphere' is situated on Level 122, with 'At The Top: Burj Khalifa' giving visitors 360-degree views of Dubai from the 124 and 125 levels. Levels 112 to 154 also have varying office space, with 'At The Top: Burj Khalifa SKY' on Level 148 offering an outdoor deck and a higher vantage point of Dubai.

Highest Observation Deck In The World

Another milestone achieved by Burj Khalifa is 'At The Top: Burj Khalifa SKY'. The observation deck gives visitors access to Level 148, at a height of 555 metres and offering unparalleled views of Dubai from a high vantage point. Visitors can also visit the lower 360-degree indoor observation deck 'At The Top: Burj Khalifa', with access to Levels 124 and 125. The previous record was held by Canton Tower in China, with the observation deck set at a height of 488 metres.

Highest Occupied Floor

Burj Khalifa has the highest occupied floor in the world. Situated on Level 160, the floor is not accessible to the public and is known as the mechanical wing, where the interior wall system strategically helps support the building from both gravity and lateral load. However, with special permission, some people have visited Level 160. The three floors above it consist of the spire of the building.

Tallest Free-Standing Structure In The World

Burj Khalifa has also been named the tallest free-standing structure in the world, for its height of 828 metres. The title was awarded to Burj Khalifa during its opening on 4 January 2010, and remains to this day. Burj Khalifa is known as a free-standing structure, as it has a foundation and does not need additional support to stay upright.

Highest Fireworks On A Building

On 31 December 2015, Burj Khalifa received the title for the highest fireworks displayed on a building. The show saw fireworks burst from both sides of the tower, and from the top down, in a display that lasted almost 10 minutes. Over 1.6 tonnes of fireworks were used to achieve the milestone. The title was set, as the building stands at 828 metres and the highest fireworks erupted from the top.

Largest Light and Sound Show On A Single Building

On 1 January 2018, to mark the start of the New Year, Burj Khalifa hosted the largest light and sound show on a single building. The display incorporated the LED screen on the tower, lasers, lights, sounds and the Dubai Fountain, all working in unison.

Largest LED-Illuminated Facade

On 1 January 2019, Burj Khalifa broke yet another record by displaying the largest LED-illuminated facade for New Year's Eve. Tourists and residents have also seen stunning displays projected from Burj Khalifa, from a gender reveal to movie and brand promotions.
