Those of you who know me know that I find the field of preventative medicine fascinating and I’m a big believer in it. I respect the idea that we can look after our health by looking after our gut, not just with what we eat, but the way we eat. As soon as I heard about predictive medicine - which uses our DNA to predict the probability of disease, allowing us to make changes to either prevent the disease altogether or significantly decrease its impact, I simply had to find out more.

What’s involved?
I was there for the day, excited to discover as much as I could about myself and my health. First, my height and weight were taken followed by a Bio Impedance Analysis (BIA) and a blood test for food sensitivity and intolerance. In the consultation with Dr Nasim Ashraf, the Chief Medical Officer, and Dr Tina Krombach, Naturopathic and Homeopathic Medicine Practitioner, we discussed my lifestyle, my weight and goals, sleep patterns, stress levels and food. Though the results of the blood test would take 2 weeks, we went over my eating habits and small changes that would start making a difference, and the amount of water I consumed - not enough! With more than 70% of our immune system residing in the gastrointestinal tract and an increasing array of medical research confirming that most diseases - including heart attacks - start as inflammation in the gut, DNA explores, analyses and prioritises nutrition.
Then it was off to try out the bio-aesthetics. Having heard about Nurse Jamie Sherrill, Hollywood’s premier bio-aesthetician, I just had to try the DNA Express Hollywood Beauty Package which included the Clear Lift Laser (non-surgical face lift), AFT Photo-facial Laser (skin brightening, redness reduction, luminous glow) and NIR (skin tightening and wrinkle reduction) combined with Oxygen Mist Therapy. It was all done in 45 minutes with 3 different lasers which Maliha talked me through to allay any fears. No pain or downtime and Hollywood results!
After a delicious, healthy lunch, I was off to Talise Fitness for my personal fitness evaluation and coaching session which involved looking at my current training, my body composition and what I wanted to achieve. It was then off to the Spa for the final, most relaxing, part of the day - the Alphasphere room. Focusing on the senses, it creates a whole body and mind experience with sound, colour, light, vibration, touch, temperature and smell. It reduces stress, reenergises, enhances creativity and heightens perception - I cannot think of a more relaxing start to a massage. I was fast asleep in minutes and felt so relaxed when I woke up! The massage was equally relaxing and the bed so comfy, I was off again.
What are the results?
Through the tests that were run, I was able to find out more about what to aim for with my weight, my fitness levels, foods that were safe and foods to consider limiting as they do not suit my body, stressors in my life from past and present that may be affecting my health, and more importantly my sleep. Adapting these changes in my life was made simple by talking them through with the doctors and I now feel I have a clear direction and something achievable to aim for.
The facial was absolutely fantastic and I’m delighted with the results - my skin looks fab, so bright and hydrated. People were still commenting on my skin weeks later.
