Celebrate World Chocolate Day!

World Chocolate Day is celebrated globally on 7 July and serves as the perfect reminder for people to indulge in the sweet treat, without hesitation.

From chocolate cupcakes, bars and hot chocolate, chocolate has become one of the go-to treats for a quick pick-me-up to celebrating special occasions.

Chocolate is made by grinding seeds called cocoa beans, which can be found in various locations around the world including Ghana, Switzerland and Brazil.

The taste of cocoa beans differs based on the location, although they generally have a bitter taste and are mixed in with sweeteners to create delicious flavours.

To make chocolate, the beans are harvested and then fermented, dried and roasted. The beans are separated from their shells and the nibs collected are ground into cocoa mass.

The cocoa mass is then mixed with cocoa butter and sugar for dark chocolate, cocoa butter, milk powder and sugar for milk chocolate, and milk powder, sugar and cocoa butter for white chocolate.

With so many places serving decadent chocolate dishes, here are some amazing spots in Dubai that are a must-visit this week to enjoy the sweet treats.
