UAE Leaders Pardon Over 3,000 Prisoners Ahead Of Eid Al-Adha

Ahead of Eid Al-Adha, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has ordered the release of 963 prisoners from the UAE’s correctional facilities. The pardon also includes full coverage of fines imposed on them, offering a clean slate for those convicted of various offences.

This annual gesture underscores the nation’s ongoing commitment to mercy, rehabilitation, and second chances. The initiative is designed to allow former inmates to rejoin society, support their families, and start afresh with dignity.

The pardons are part of a long-standing tradition during major religious occasions, reflecting the UAE’s values of compassion and forgiveness.

Other UAE leaders also followed suit.

  • His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, ordered the release of 985 inmates.
  • His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, pardoned 439 inmates.
  • His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, released 411 prisoners.
  • His Higness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 225 individuals.
  • His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, pardoned 112 prisoners.
