What To Watch: August 2022

With so many things to watch at home and at the cinema these days, finding the right thing to occupy us during the so valuable spare time we have can be an overwhelming task.

From going out with friends and family for a movie night at the cinema, to snuggling under a duvet in bed and watching a great television show or movie, here are some recommendations to help stop the excessive scrolling for hours and spending more time watching.

Netflix:

Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist - 16 August

A great pick for people that love a documentary series, the nine-part story follows the life of Manti Te'o, an All-American Notre Dame football player. Directed by Ryan Duffy and Tony Vainuku, the documentary sheds light on how an online relationship put his career and legacy in jeopardy.

Look Both Ways - 17 August

The movie follows Natalie (starring Lili Reinheart) on the eve of her graduation, with two outcomes of her life. One where she ends up pregnant and stays in Texas, trying to figure out motherhood, while the other reality has her pursuing her career by moving to Los Angeles.

The Girl In The Mirror - 19 August

Starring Claudia Roset, Javier Morgade and Mireia Oriol, the show tells the tale of Alma, who loses her memory in an accident. As all her classmates were killed in the same accident, she tries to retrace her steps to figure out what happened on that unfateful day.

Angry Birds: Summer Madness: Season 3 - 25 August

A great pick to watch with kids, the show follows Red, Bomb, Stella and Chuck as teens, as they spend their summer at Camp Splinterwood.

Prime:

Making The Cut: Season 3 - 19 August

Hosted and produced by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn, the third season of Making The Cut will follow ten entrepreneurs and designers from around the world as they compete to win and receive a grand prize of $1 million to invest in their business, a mentorship with Amazon Fashion and the opportunity to create an exclusive co-brand with Amazon Fashion and launch their existing brands on the Amazon Fashion store.

Samaritan - 26 August

Starring Sylvester Stallone and Javon Walton, the movie looks into the life of 13-year-old Sam Cleary, as he suspects his neighbour Mr Smith is a super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, hiding in plain sight. Sam decides to convince his neighbour to save the city from the chaos. 

Disney+:

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3 - Now Showing 

The spin-off from the popular Disney 'High School Musical' franchise, the show follows along students at East High as they navigate life, school and love, with the help of musical theatre. The third season will see the students prepare to perform 'Frozen' at Camp Shallow Lake.

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law - 18 August

She-Hulk follows Jennifer Walters as she goes through life as an attorney of the law while also getting used to her life, fighting crime, while being a 6-foot 7-inch superhero. The show stars Tatiana Maslany, Jameela Jamil and Mark Ruffalo.

House Of The Dragon - 22 August

A prequel to the iconic and highly raved television show, Game of Thrones is coming this month. The show will highlight the story of the House Targaryen set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

GOING OUT

Cinemas:

Bullet Train - Now Showing 

Released this month, the action movie has a star-studded cast starring Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock and Joey King. The movie will follow Ladybug, an unlucky assassin who wants to complete his mission without bumps. Still, onboard the fastest train in Japan has to deal with various adversaries, all connected with different objectives.

Orphan: First Kill - 18 August

Enjoy a thrilling horror movie to the prequel to one of the iconic films, 'Orphan'. Starring Isabelle Furhman as Esther, the movie will shed light into the backstory of Esther's journey as she escapes from an Estonian psychiatric facility and tricks people by impersonating as a lost child from a wealthy family. As she crosses paths with a family, the mother will stop at nothing to protect her family
