We are all set for a nice long 5 day weekend, with time on our hand and lots to do. How will you celebrate this 49th National Day weekend? Here is a round up of just some of the different things you can do with friends and family over the next few days.
Fireworks To Light Up The Sky
Do you love the sight of fireworks? Then head down to any of these locations for their delightful firework shows throughout the weekend. Festival City and La Mer will have two firework displays on 2 December 2020 at 9pm and at 11pm. Global Village is having a weekend worth of fireworks from 2 December to 5 December 2020 at 9pm.
Go Shopping
Although Black Friday shopping sales have come to an end, malls have extended their sales till 5 December 2020. So head down to The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Nakheel Mall, City Centre Deira or Dubai Outlet Mall to enjoy all the shopping sales.
Staycation For The Long Weekend
With travel restrictions stopping us from taking a holiday, staycations are the next best thing! Head down to your favourite hotel and relax for the long weekend as various hotels are offering discounts and deals that will guarantee a great weekend.
Celebratory Lights
From 7pm to 11pm, important landmarks like the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Frame will light up. From 28 November to 5 December 2020, you can enjoy watching these landmarks change into the colours of the UAE Flag.
Drive Around Dubai
As this year is very different from the rest and there is a need to socially distance, get into the National Day spirit, by driving around Dubai and watching the beautiful decorations put up in celebration of National Day. It is the best way to stay safe and also have fun.
The Pointe Fountain
The world’s largest fountain is putting on an extraordinary show for National Day. Emirati composer, Ihad Darwish, will be a part of the show which also includes a live orchestra and fireworks, starting from 9pm on 2 December 2020.
Broadcasting Live From The Capital
Due to COVID-19 and the need to social distance, National Day celebrations will not be held at large this year although to celebrate the 49th National Day, there will be a live broadcast of the event ‘Seeds Of The Union’ that will display themes of UAE’s history and their values. The event will also be screened at VOX Cinemas in The Mall of the Emirates for free.
