Abu Dhabi To Host UAE Muay Thai Open Championship

The UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation will host the UAE Muay Thai Open Championship at the Space 42 Arena in Al Raha Beach, Abu Dhabi, from 9 to 11 August 2024. This event will bring together 551 fighters from 47 national clubs, demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting Muay Thai and offering youth and juniors a platform to showcase their skills during the summer season.

The championship will feature male and female fighters, ages 8 to 23, competing across 12 weight categories. Preliminary rounds will begin on 9 August with continued competitions on 10 August and the finals taking place on 11 August.

Ali Khouri, Managing Director and Board Member of the UAE Muay Thai and Kickboxing Federation said, "Building on the recent successes of the UAE Kickboxing Championship, we are delighted to host the UAE Muay Thai Open Championship, which offers a premier opportunity for young and emerging talents to elevate their competitive edge, gain invaluable experience, and use their vacation time for meaningful development in their Muay Thai journey."

Muay Thai, also known as the 'Art of Eight Limbs', is a traditional Thai martial art that emphasises striking using fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Renowned for its powerful techniques and clinch work, it combines physical conditioning with mental discipline, making it a popular sport and effective self-defence system.
