Calling all UAE residents who live, breathe, and repeat K-dramas, Korean food, and K-pop music! The 8th Korean Film Festival, presented by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the UAE and the Korean Cultural Centre, is set to make a triumphant return to Abu Dhabi and Dubai this July. This eagerly anticipated event marks the first Korean film festival in Dubai since 2017. Film lovers can immerse themselves in a diverse selection of Korean films at VOX Cinemas, Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi, from 4 to 7 July, and at VOX Cinemas, Dubai Festival City Mall, from 12 to 14 July.
The theme for this year's festival, 'freedom', will be showcased through an array of genres and eras, catering to every palate. Audiences can expect a captivating line-up including fantasy, comedy, historical drama, mystery, musicals, and independent films, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Historical movies such as 'Road to Boston', 'Noryang, Deadly Sea', and 'Hero' will vividly portray the Korean people's pursuit of freedom. Meanwhile, contemporary films like 'Dream Palace', 'Love Reset', and 'Sleep' will address present-day societal issues and the resilience needed to confront them. For children, 'Pororo Movie: Dragon Castle Adventure' promises laughter, while adults can indulge in fantasy thrills with 'Alienoid Part 2: The Return to the Future'.
Lee Yong-hee, Cultural Attaché of the Korean Embassy, expressed enthusiasm about the festival's return, stating, "We are thrilled to bring the Korean Film Festival back to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This event not only showcases the rich and diverse storytelling of Korean cinema but also strengthens cultural ties between Korea and the UAE. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating freedom through film."
