Al Ain Zoo is celebrating World Penguin Day to raise awareness of the importance of conserving penguins.
Held every year on 25 April, the zoo is home to 88 Humboldt penguins.
Known to live by the coastline, especially in Peru and Chile, Humboldt penguins can dive up to 500 feet into the water in search of food, including squid, fish and more.
The International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List has named the penguin species as endangered.
While at the zoo, visitors can enjoy feeding the penguins, taking pictures up close, as well as learning about their natural habitat and lifestyles.
Additionally, information on the challenges faced by penguins and the steps that can be taken to prevent their extinction will be shared.
