Emirates Shares Travel Tips For Eid Al Fitr Holidays

The Eid Al Fitr holidays begin on Thursday, 20 April, and as many UAE residents are set to make trips outside the country, Emirates has shared some tips for passengers to ensure a smooth journey.

All passengers are advised to reach the airport three hours before the flight to avoid any delays.

Early baggage drop off: As checking in at the airport can be a lengthy process, passengers can opt for dropping their luggage off at the airport 24 hours before travelling from Dubai or 12 hours when flying to the US or Tel Aviv, and head straight to immigration without having to wait in line.

Online check-in: Emirates also offers online check-in via the Emirates website or the Emirates App, where preferred seats and meals can be selected, and on arrival at the airport, only need to visit the dedicated baggage drop-off desks.

Home check-in: Dubai and Sharjah passengers can avail of check-in from the comfort of their homes, where agents will visit the place the passenger is residing at to complete all the requirements for check-in as well as collect the bags.

Self-check-in kiosks: With the use of phones, passengers can opt for self-check-in kiosks where they can view their itinerary, choose their preferred seats and, if already checked-in, can leave their bags at the baggage drop area.

Smart Gates: Available to UAE residents and GCC nationals, with the Smart Gates, passengers only require their passport, boarding pass or valid Emirates ID to go through immigration.

Smart Tunnel: First class and business class passengers can also enjoy using the Smart Tunnel service, through which passengers will be cleared for immigration by just walking through, with facial recognition used to check-in.

Duty-Free Shopping: Through the EmiratesRED website, passengers can now shop online and get their orders delivered to them while onboard the flight. The orders can be placed 21 days to 40 hours before the flight with a range of beauty, perfumes, watches and more available.

Support for people of determination: Staff at the airport will be available to assist people of determination with two hours of complimentary parking offered, dedicated lanes for check-in, passport control and security, as well as priority boarding available.
