Two students from Swiss International School Dubai have won the Spinneys Local Business Incubator Awards, for their brand, BobRockz.
Spinneys launched the awards in 2020 to identify and support small businesses and help them grow quicker through the supermarket chain.
The brand, started by eight-year-old Devi and six-year-old Meera, offers super healthy cookies for all to enjoy and made them the youngest ever to win the award.
A representative from Spinneys said, "BobRockz is a product which ticks a lot of boxes for what the average Spinneys customer is looking for. The unique recipe is healthy, and we are seeing ongoing interest in healthier snacks and treats from our customers. We are delighted to support such young passionate and creative entrepreneurs."
Inspired by the movie 'Zootopia', where the character Judy Hopps reminds everyone that they can be anything they want to be, led Devi to decide that she wanted to make her own healthy cookies.
However, due to her intolerances to gluten, dairy, eggs and white sugar, Devi started experimenting in the kitchen with her Mum from when she was just 18 months and by the time she was 4 years old, she was baking all on her own.
Devi said, "We are here to create a world of our own, where clean eating is for everyone. We are ready to be seen, heard and known - and we don’t need to wait to grow up. Anyone can be anything! Fairytales need not be about prince and princesses, BobRockz is a fairytale for us."
The brand encourage delicious yet clean eating and is vegan, gluten-free and free from nuts, refined sugar, artificial flavours, preservatives and palm oil.
The cookies come in two flavours, classic chocolate chip and breakfast super seed, and limited edition cookies topped with 24-carat gold, for Eid and the Pink Caravan, and have ingredients like pumpkin seeds, sun-dried dates, red rice, mung beans, lentils and pulses.
Having previously been sold at the Ripe Market in Dubai, till April 2024, the cookies will be sold at the Fresh Bakery area at 16 stores.
Priced at Dhs 19, the cookies come in a pack of four.
