The Green Planet is set to welcome two echidnas to the tropical biodome.
Home to over 3,000 plants and animals, the new additions will arrive at The Green Planet on 5 April, and visitors can then enjoy special meet and greets and talks with an expert biologist from 5 to 11 April.
Echidnas are one of the only two egg-laying mammals in the world, can weigh around 2kg to 5kg, grow up to 40cm, are covered in fur and spines and have a distinctive snout with no teeth.
To defend themselves when feeling threatened, echidnas curl up into a ball and use their spikes as a defence mechanism.
Echidnas have a vital role in safeguarding the environment as they are constantly digging through soil, helping with soil mixing and preventing erosion.
Ticket prices to The Green Planet start at Dhs 125 and are available on their website.
