Within one week from launch, the '1 Billion Meals Endowment' campaign has reached Dhs 247 million.
The campaign aims to provide meals to the less fortunate, has now almost reached the quarter mark of its goal.
Launched during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the campaign has received contributions from 13,220 individuals and businesses.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai said, "The campaign paves the way for a new concept of charitable work that is sustainable and impactful in a way that meets the specific needs of underprivileged populations. The food aid endowment fund created under the campaign is a key milestone in UAE’s humanitarian efforts. Our community’s race to contribute, with 13,220 contributors donating AED 247 million in one week only, is not new to our community. We are confident that the next days will see more contributions to the endowment fund."
The campaign is a follow-up to the '1 Billion Meals' initiative launched in 2022 during Ramadan which provided meals to individuals and families in need from 50 countries around the world.
Contributions can be made through five different methods, via SMS, the 1 Billion Meals Endowment campaign website, the DubaiNow App, the call centre or through bank transfers.
