The Ministry of Economy has announced that the prices of eggs and poultry will increase.
An increase of 13% has been approved and is set to be temporary, with the situation assessed once more in six months time.
The Ministry said, "Should the grounds that gave rise to the resolution cease to exist, the resolution itself would cease to exist, considering the changes in the local, regional, and global marketplaces."
The decision is in line with multiple businesses in the food sector experiencing losses, due to the high production cost and increase in fodder and shipping costs.
Following a study to determine what the prices of eggs and poultry should cost, the range found suitable was between 13% to 20%, with a 13% rate approved.
With the decision, suppliers will be able to sell at reasonable costs, while also meeting the needs of consumers.
