His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the plans to outsource 28 public schools to private school operators.
The plan, known as the Ajyal Schools model, will transfer the schools to the private sector for three years, allowing parents to experience different educational choices.
The initiative was announced last year, where the model would provide a mix of both the UAE curriculum as well as the American curriculum.
Under the UAE curriculum, Arabic, Islamic education, social studies and moral education will be focused on, with the American curriculum used for maths, science and more.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said, "We approved the ‘Ajyal Schools’ model which includes managing 28 government schools by operators from the private sector for three years to ensure experience transfer and diversification of educational choices for parents."
