A new 11 kilometre bridge connecting three areas in Abu Dhabi has opened.
The Umm Yifeenah Bridge will help in reducing travel time from Reem Island, Umm Yifeenah Island and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street.
The six lane highway also features walking and cycling paths, with bike rental facilities available as an alternative mode of transport.
The highway can accommodate 6,000 journeys per hour in both directions.
The Umm Yifeenah Bridge is the first phase of the Mid-Island Parkway project that is currently under design, and will ultimately link Al Reem Island and Saadiyat Island, Al Raha Beach and Khalifa City.
The road network is set to be completed by 2028.
To maintain the natural environment, mangrove trees have planted near Jubail Island.
