Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has approved the plan for aerial taxi vertiports.
The models were approved by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai at the World Government Summit 2023.
The air taxi stations will have facilities including designated take-off and landing zones, a passenger waiting area, security protocols and electric charging stations.
Initially, the network of air taxi stations will connect four main areas, Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, Dubai International Airport and Palm Jumeirah.
At Dubai International Airport, the vertiport will be connected to the Emirates Metro Station via an air-conditioned bridge.
With two levels for car parking, the topmost roof will serve as the terminal for aerial taxis.
The project aims to add a new mobility service to add ease of transport to individuals and will be operational by 2026.
