A partial solar eclipse can be seen today in the UAE.
The rare event occurs when the moon comes in between the sun and the earth, and partially covers the sun.
The sun, moon and earth do not align in a partial solar eclipse, but the moon casts a shadow and looks like the sun is partially covered.
Starting at 2.40pm till 4.50pm, the peak of the eclipse is expected at 3.51pm.
The next partial solar eclipse will take place in 2027.
While viewing the partial solar eclipse, using solar eclipse glasses is important, to avoid chances of eye damage or blindness, from the harmful rays.
