The first edition of the Bike Abu Dhabi Festival will be held this year.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayan, member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, the festival will run from 7 to 13 November.
The festival is a new initiative to the Bike Abu Dhabi platform in an effort to make Abu Dhabi the leading hub for global cycling.
Two cycling events will be held including the fifth edition of the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships, from 9 to 13 November and held in the region for the first time, and the Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo held on 12 November.
The Bike Abu Dhabi Gran Fondo will start in Abu Dhabi city and finish in Al Ain for a distance of 150km, with a prize amount of Dhs 2 million divided between men and women.
The top urban cyclists will also be able to compete in the BMX Freestyle Park and the BMX Freestyle Flatland and trials.
The BMX Freestyle will include Women Elite and Men Elite, for riders aged 15 and over.
During the trials, a national team competition will be held as well as rainbow jerseys given to the winners of the individual categories, Women Elite, Men Elite (20), Men Elite (26), Men Junior (20) and Men Junior (26).
A range of events and activities will also be held dedicated for women and an event village including short bicycle courses, face painting, bungee trampolines, graffiti artists, street dancers, BMX stunt shows, live music and more, will be held at Nation Towers.
