His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai took a tour of Bustanica.
Bustanica is the recently opened largest vertical hydroponic farm in the world.
The farm aims to provide the highest level of sustainable food production and food security to the public.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said, "The UAE will continue to make the right investments in technologies and people to make food production and supply more agile and sustainable."
The facility located near Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central will produce over 1,000,000 kilograms of high-quality leafy greens annually, which requires 95% less water than conventional agriculture.
The leafy greens grown in the facility include lettuce, arugula, mixed salad greens and spinach and will be used for catering aboard Emirates and other airlines as well as available to buy in stores.
